sicker than the remix, let me blow your mind tonight

I think a part of my Pop Slut heart just died.

So first there’s Britney Spears. We’ve already come to the conclusion that her song ‘Till The World Ends’ is, quite basically, awesome. Instead of releasing a new single, which was what I was expecting, she goes and releases a remix… with Ke$ha… and Nicki Minaj

Yes kids. I am sad to say this, but this could possibly be my dream collaboration.

If the pop world is going to continue with this surprise remix + special pop star (hello there Rihanna + Britney = ‘S&M’), I will very possibly get a heart attack and die from excitement. Or die from shame and embarrassment.

Anyway, after a couple of listens, I have to admit the song is pretty underwhelming. Apart from Nicki, who completely  steals the spotlight. I mean really, she’s mad. Her rap about animals is mad. Her clucking like a chicken is mad. That’s why we love her.

Again, does anyone suspect that Kesha’s vocals are from her demo version of the song? She wrote ‘Till The World Ends’ after all.. And Nicki Minaj is going on tour with Britney. That’s just conspiracy theory talk though.

where them girls at?

French DJ/producer David Guetta is currently working on a new album, expected to be released later this year. He’s already made some of the pop world’s worst/best guilty-pleasures, so we can all expect to be subjected by more of the same over the next few months/years. And this time around, he’s reportedly working with hotshots like Madonna, Britney Spears, U2.

What I don’t like about David Guetta is how he likes to paste his name on his music. He’s a producer. He doesn’t sing or perform his songs. There are tons of really good producers right now, but we don’t talk about that hot song ‘Pokerface’ by RedOne with Lady Gaga, or ‘Hold It Against Me featuring Britney Spears’ by Dr Luke and Max Martin.

Anyway, this song is expected to be the first single off that new album. Apparently, it was only supposed to feature Flo Rida on vocals. Thank god for Nicki Minaj, although you can hear how her part doesn’t fully mesh with the song. We can salvage the song by skipping forward to the part when she raps.

(I’m biased. I really like Nicki)
