Just took a listen to DJ Earworm’s annual mashup of the biggest hits of the year. ‘United State of Pop 2011 (World Go Boom)’ has quite a catchy chorus, but something really sounds off.

It might be because  he cuts between songs so quickly, it’s tough to recognise individual hooks. You can’t play a solo game of Name That Song. Well, not without looking at the accompanying music video, of course.

Compare this to his ultra brilliant ‘United State of Pop 2009 (Blame It On The Pop)’, where the lyrics still make sense, but you can easily recognise the individual songs.
